GYMEA Health Retreat is a sustainable, eco venue positioned at the base of majestic Wollumbin (Mt Warning) in the northern rivers region of New South Wales.

Gymea is conveniently located half-way between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. It is an easy 40 minute drive from either the heart of Byron or from Coolongatta Airport.

Gymea Health Retreat is positioned on approx. 46ha (113 acres) of secluded, naturally undulating rainforest with stunning views of Mt Warning (Wollumbin). Access to a 20m long resort style Magnesium swimming pool which enjoys incredible views of Mt Warning and the valley. Soothe away any muscle aches and pains and let your skin feel the healing benefits of the therapeutic magnesium.

There is a luxury Day Spa onsite. It is available for all of our Retreat Guests to utilize and it is a place of holding, nurturing and healing. The Day Spa is lovingly prepared every morning to ensure that every person experiences a place of peace and release.

To help you connect even more, we offer our guests a guided morning hike. This is a medium-level walk that gives you breath-taking views out over the valley towards Wollumbin, Mt Warning. It’s a daily experience you won’t want to miss.

Octagon Room

An eight-sided room (called The Octogon) has been purpose-built to provide a safe, sacred and light-filled workshop space. This space is where most sessions are conducted, from healing to education to music, movement and meditation.


All rooms are private and conveniently located within the retreat. Pathways from the front of each room, connect you to the main areas; dining room, workshop space, day spa & pool. All room furnishings are either organic or bio-dynamic and each room has luxury bedding, ceiling fan, additional pillows, blankets, storage, shower and toilet.

What’s it all about…

5 Days of Cleansing and Detoxing your body, mind and soul at the beautiful Gymea Eco Retreat in Northern NSW, just 40 mins from Gold Coast Airport.

If you have never done a juice fast or juice cleanse before then this retreat is the perfect way to get the support and guidance you need. If you have done one before then doing it again, with other like-minded people, will take you to a deeper place of cleansing.

During the retreat you will go through our Healthy Eating and Lifestyle program as you discover how you are feeding yourself, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. It’s relaxed, fun, educational and healing.

Facilitated by Gary Dowse, founder of the program, you will come away from the retreat feeling RESET and RENEWED.

HealU, as the name implies, is all about YOU and our program gives you the opportunity to pause, to take stock of your life and hit the ‘Reset Button’.

Day 1 – Feeding Your Mind

Your body is the true healer. All you have to do is get your MIND out the way and let your body do what it naturally wants to do … heal itself!!! The retreat starts with getting the mind “right”, setting a powerful intention to heal and becoming fully present in the here and now.

Day 2 – Feeding Your Body

There are 13 entrances to the body and 7 principles of health that feed it. You will discover that there is not a single cell, organ or body system that does not have an equivalent plant-based food to help it grow, heal and repair.

Day 3 – Feeding Your Emotions

We know our thoughts and feelings are powerful. Whether we realize it or not our emotions can affect the cells and organs of our physical body. You will learn how to use colours from the plants to help shift and release toxic stored emotions.

Day 4 – Feeding Your Senses

Do you know the impact the 7 senses have on your health? We will explore the environment around you, the space you create for yourself, what you smell, taste, touch, see and hear to understand how your senses impact your health.

Day 5 – Feeding Your Spirit

Ignite your spirit. Find your light and pass it on to others (passion). Your ability to contribute to the experience of another person is all that really matters. We close out the retreat teaching you how to get from A to B, using the tools you have gathered throghout the retreat, to truly live a healthier life.

Be inspired as we show you how to incorporate more plant-based meals into your daily lifestyle. Savour the taste of last supper & look forward to breaking your fast with locally grown produce.


Each person will receive a 60 min complementary massage by one of our qualified masseurs. Great for helping to release stress and bath in relaxation.

A little bit about me…

As an intuitive, sensitive being who grew up in an environment that constantly served lemons – I learnt how to make lemonade! Deep down, I knew there was more to life, so when an opportunity presented itself in 1993 to move to Melbourne (from Adelaide), I grabbed it with both hands!

My passion…

Besides my gorgeous husband (and food), my passion is helping people ‘find their way’ to a lighter, brighter, greater and more magickal version of themselves. “A candle never loses its light when lighting another candle.”

Things I’ve done…

I wrote a book – it’s called A Foodie’s Guide to Juice Fasting to help people do a 7 day juice fast. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I know what it’s like to go without the very thing you love the most and so…I feel I have a lot to offer as most people don’t think they can go without food, let alone fast!

I give you an insiders perspective on what to expect  and how to navigate it successfully. So, whether you want to overcome a sickness, feel more energetic, or improve your overall health and wellbeing, you’ll move closer to your goal with a little help from someone who has been there and done that. And, as one of your facilitators, I am testament to that!

A little bit about me…

I grew up in a low socio-economic family in the west of Sydney. Little was I to know that my early foundations would shape who and what I wanted to be in life, because I wasn’t a fan of what I had. Having experienced such contrast was a big help with my transition.

I love keeping fit, self-development, trekking the great outdoors, growing our own food on our 14 acre property, buildings things, and I am a great lover of words. I spent most of my life by the sea and more recently adopted a tree change to experience the contrast. So far so good 😊

My passion…

I followed the wellness path from my early 20’s after suffering a near-death experience, and I now value everything this amazing planet provides, and what our minds and thoughts are capable of.

I am passionate about holistic health. To me, health and wellbeing is much broader than just food. It is critical that our focus and our approach, the language we use, and how we think about ourselves is equally as important. I have spent endless hours researching and learning the benefits of food, fasting, and mindset and continue this practice daily.

Things I’ve done…

I studied health coaching at The Institute For Integrative Nutrition, New York (IIN), graduating with a Diploma in 2015. I have also had the privilege of coaching many people through different circumstances and events in their life with great outcomes. Some of these people just needed an accountability coach, while others needed a deeper level of knowledge.

She might be behind the scenes, but she is by no means a shy wallflower!
